Hi guys and gals, I was looking at some pics on Ebay of 67 GTO/Tempest reveal moldings and they look like they might fit my GS. Are any make/model molding pieces interchangeable? Thanks for your input. Ed
If you are talking about the piece which runs along the top of the door, as well as the quarter panel, and has the window "Fuzzies" attached to them, all the GM "A" body cars of the same year interchange. Hardtops and convertibles interchange, if a sedan has these they will not interchange with convertibles and hardtops(hardtops have no "B" pillar). On hardtop cars they are made of aluminum. On convertibles they are Stainless steel, which matches the trim around the top well AND attaches to said top well trim. The stainless piece for the convertible front doors will fit the hardtop front doors. They may look a little different being made of different material. I think Ames Pontiac sells repro stainless pieces for the front doors. Good Luck Mike
Hi Mike, Thanks. I mean the trim pieces below the "fuzzy" like in this pic from Tom's post: http://www.v8buick.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=302938&d=1421498262
There is a place in Pennsylvania the rebuilds the wide reveal mouldings. http://www.restorationspecialties.com/ They might be able ship you what you need to repair yours.
Try posting an ad in the parts wanted section, there should be some members here on the board that may have a decent set to sell you unless you want new that is. Search the name cole he may have a set.
The GTO moldings are the same as the Buicks'. Cutlass/442 moldings will NOT work. I have "GTO" moldings that I added to my '67 GS and they fit perfect. The after market fuzzies that attach to them are garbage compared to the originals. But that's the way it is with most reproduction anything.
Hey Nick, Could you help further my education and tell me what is different about the Cutlass moldings? I have a 66 Cutlass and thought they looked the same but didn't actually try to use Olds on Buick. Mike
Well Mike, all you have to do is take a look at the curvature of the Olds quarters where it meets the rear glass as compared to the Buick or GTO. The Buick/GTO rear quarter is flatter gradual slope up to meet the drip rail. In other words, no hump in the quarter. The door molding may work, I really can't say for sure.
Thanks Nick, I was aware the quarter panel trim would not interchange between Olds and Buick, but after re-reading my original post I certainly did not say that. My mistake. I really didn't know the Pontiac and Buick quarter panel trim would interchange. So you did help me learn something here, Thanks again. Mike
I am parting a 67 hardtop that has reveal moldings. After removing them, I discovered that the quarter moldings will no fit a convertible. The quarter glass is different too.
