That's a familiar shape p Mine used to have the rubber trim down the side. I keep considering going back to the hubcaps and side trim.
I just had new tires put on the freshly painted 14" buick rallys, I'm pulling all the trim off except emblems. having to replace pretty much all rubber mounts and bushings because of dry rot. it's bone stock, found the build sheet under rear seat, 3.8, 200 trans, 256 rear gears. looking for a 350 buick motor but no big rush, just wanting to get it safe and driveable first.
oh forgot, 76 skylark 80,000 original mi. p/s, p/b, a/c (which doesn't work and coming out anyway), wood trim interior, all the side molding, small amount of rust around rear wheel wells and very bottom rear corner of pass. side quarter, (pulled out entire interior and floor pans all look new), car has been siting since 03. drivers side windows got cooked and pass side got drowned
Re: here it is update work done as of today, repainted buick rally's, carb rebuild, egr block off plate, intake and valve cover gaskets. New, shocks, brakes, tires, motor mounts, trans mount, body mounts, spring bushings, door and trunk weather strip, window felt, door and trunk locks. so I'm driving it, it's safe and runs good for a little 100hp motor, trans shift points not right but i'll deal with that later. got a line on a 68 350 motor and trans that hopefully I'll be picking up next week
Should drop right in. Maybe minor work on the transcross member, or maybe not! I've heard the TH350 and TH200/2004-r are direct swaps. I bet the exhaust even bolts up.
just got the 1 pic so far, except for the painted wheels and new tires appearance hasn't changed. but the trans linkage was way out of adjustment once I put the new body mounts on. and you don't hear the spring eyelets smacking the frame anymore. a couple of the body mount bolts were almost rusted completely through. can't wait to get started on the 350 swap, i'll really be picking every ones brains then.
brought home the 350/ turbo 350 from colo last night, going to pull everything apart today and get the numbers to see exactly what I have. will post pics soon
UPDATE! took closer look at trans and looked up #'s on trans plate, says it's a 68 turbo 400, how much trouble putting this in my 76 skylark?
Take a picture of the side or pan and post it up. The TH400 will require modifications or replacement of the transmission crossmember as well as a driveshaft modification, though I am not sure if it will require a longer or shorter driveshaft because that depends on what type of output shaft/housing is on the TH400.
yes, I did and I thank you all for all the info and advise you've been giving me! "SILVERUICK' it's a short shaft 400 right now trying to find quality machine shop in santa fe area and research different engine combo's thanks, keith
Nice!! I like it! Really cool project, out of the norm. That's gonna be a cool piece if you see it through to completion!
Time to start getting ready for new motor an trans. pulled front clip to make it all easier, eliminating a/c so I need to make a new box for the blower motor, cleaning up firewall and I have all new steering parts ( ball joints, tie rods, centerlink, control arm bushings, ect. ) already replaced body mounts, spring bushings and will re-use motor (v6) and trans mounts that I just installed. 1968 350 4bl. polished crank, 9.8 to 1 hyper pistons, comp 260 cam with complete kit, new valves an seats, orig. Q-jet. 1968 turbo 400 trans. rebuilt with shift kit and tci sat. night special t/c stock, open 2.56 rear. ( next project )
