Having trouble getting the fuel line off of the carb as well as getting the fuel filter out. When you remove the fuel line from the carb, are there left handed threads on the fuel line?
If memory serves, both the line (to the filter housing) and the filter housing to the carb are both right hand threads. Keep the filter housing stable with a wrench and 'bump" the line loose. Mark
Mark is correct. Regular threads on both. Hold the filter housing with a wrench and use a line wrench on the fuel line nut.
All right hand threads, as has been mentioned. It is possible that the threads of the carburetor body and/or the fuel inlet fitting are/were stripped, and the PO either put in a rethreading kit or JB welded it in. Hard to tell. I just bought a Q-Jet and the inlet fitting had been JB welded and it had an aftermarket o-ring style fitting installed. I ended up grinding all the JB weld out, buying a new fitting, machining it to fit, and JB welding that in. I would have liked to had that info when I bought that carburetor. What the heck else I could have done is beyond me, after the fact. Good luck with your carburetor.
