The wagon is back on the road updated but not quite finished. Car was at the body shop about six months and I am happy with the results. Dechromed the sides as the car was originally wood grain which I chose not to reuse. Suspension was in need of work and was replaced with new control arms, air ride springs and digital control from Ridetech. The original 400 switch pitch was replaced with a 2004R. Kept the original rear axle with new axle bearings. Wilwood 12.7 disc brakes on front with new Delphi 600 power steering gear. New carpet cleans up the interior. Winter project will be replacing the speedo that is making noise. The 71 350 is stock which was in the wagon when purchased and runs fine. Here's a few photos.
Awesome car! I really like the black on the hood and top. I was thinking of putting black on my hood just like that except leaving the hood scoops silver. Do you know what color of black that is? It appears to be glossy. Dave
The "black" is actually a very deep green, I believe its forest green. Doesn't show to well in pics but does in bright sunshine.
Could you post your impressions of driving with the new trans vs. the old trans? I really like the switch pitch in my 67 Sportwagon 400 but had considered a change to the 200r4 when going through the car. Thanks.
I love your Sport Wagon. I had a 65 Sport Wagon but I had to sell it a few years back. ou: I've owned quite a few Buicks in the last 20 years and that's one that I miss. Happy Holidays To All. Don,
The 200-4r is all about the overdrive. Even with the 3.23 gears its just too many revs on the hiway. The switch pitch was missing some electrical components so wasn't working making hard to compare.
Added an autometer tach where the non-working clock used to reside. Also installed MSD ignition, the correct 90 ohm gas gauge sending unit and a temperature gauge to replace idiot light. Dash now has LED lighting so hopefully I won't have to crawl under the dash to replace bulbs.
Aawesome Wagon ... love everything about it from the color to the stance. Is the LED dashlite replacement a simple swap of bulbs or more involved ?
The LED bulbs are a direct replacement for the original 194 bulbs, they fit right into the original socket. Bought mine on amazon.com 10 for $9.
