Hello, Im doing some work on my 72 Skylark and was wondering if anyone has any detailed reference for how the rear quarter door panels are supposed to look back near the folding point of the convertible railing. Im sure I'm not explaining that correctly, so I attached some pictures. There seems to be some sort of rubber weather strip / thingy there, but I can't tell if its is supped to go over the panel or underneath, or perhaps Im missing a trim piece back there? It just looks very un-finished. I really have scoured the internet trying to find a shot of that area, but no one seems to photograph that particular spot. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance, Mitch
Thanks Harry, Awesome site! Helped a lot with some other things. Really detailed build. But still no picture of that particular area. The author seemed to mention something about the rear area panels and something not "looking" finished in his build as well. I wonder if its the same area. I wish I could look at a brand new convert from the factory so I could see how it came originally... Now off to start work on the time machine... Again thanks for the link.
Your welcome Tims car is awesome!! Hmmmm perhaps I could snap a pic or two of mine but I replaced my interior as well. Are you looking for pics of the area where the top folds down into? I think looking at your pics its the top area of the rear panels your after
Yes, the area where the panel meets the body there is a notch where the convertible arms drop into. It looks unfinished there. Like I said there a small piece of black rubber (weather stripping of some sort, that doesn't look right as well. Basically Im trying to figure out what the trim and the panel is 'supposed' to look like down/around that slot.
I think that little rubber part should go under the panel .Your right it does look unfinished Drivers side Passenger side looking to front of car-upside down pick Drivers side
