Hey guys.. check the new speed on posts, threads, and let me know how it's working for you. Been screaming from here.. JW
impressive. Ha-vent jammed up yet tonight anyway. I don't know how much of that is my end but so far been good. ---------- Post added at 05:25 PM ---------- Previous post was at 05:24 PM ---------- nice backround Stew
New equipment and database cleanup.. still have to re-index the database to get the search to work correctly. So far so good. JW
Let's see if it still does this this funny "post added color=silver'' stuff if I post a reply within 8 hrs. from the original post. ---------- Post added at 11:27 AM ---------- Previous post was at 11:26 AM ---------- This is the test reply. Edit: It took a long time, and after one minute or so this came up: And the new reply is not posted as a new post, but still added to the previous post.
Ok Eric, let's try that.. ---------- Post added at 05:34 AM ---------- Previous post was at 05:34 AM ---------- adding another reply Edit- two things here the silver color is for the post time listed.. this is a normal function of this version of the board, if you post to a thread consectuively, without anyone else posting.. it does use the search function in the index, so it will be hit or miss till that is all ironed out ---------- Post added at 05:36 AM ---------- Previous post was at 05:34 AM ---------- another try Edit- worked that time just fine ---------- Post added at 05:37 AM ---------- Previous post was at 05:36 AM ---------- another try edit: no problem now.. that one just went "blink" ---------- Post added at 05:38 AM ---------- Previous post was at 05:37 AM ---------- try it again Eric ---------- Post added at 06:35 AM ---------- Previous post was at 05:38 AM ---------- Eric, When you reply to a thread , more than once, with no other user replies in between, it does in fact ad it to your first reply. That is how this version of the board works. JW
It stops doing that after a certain amount of time. But sometimes I notice that board members are making a new post within a few minutes and it ends up under their previous post as a new post. I will post an example when I see this again :TU:
Everything is working faster. Is this the equivalent of a dyno tune? Way more efficient for me, but I don't have many posts. Awesome!
working great from my home desktop. :TU: Now to try it from my laptop with WiFi later this week.... I had stopped logging on using wifi, since the speed had gotten so slow.
ive had plenty today in the last few hours..for posting and sending pms.. im sure the advanced search is still no better :-(
Jim, here's an example: Robert ("Opa") makes a new post a few minutes after his previous post and it doesn't do the "post added'' stuff. Click here :Comp: ---------- Post added at 01:27 PM ---------- Previous post was at 01:23 PM ---------- Test: Let's see if this new post with one of Robert's YouTube video link also opens as a new post when I post it: ---------- Post added at 01:28 PM ---------- Previous post was at 01:27 PM ---------- Edit: No, it doesn't work for me like that. But like I said before: Some board members are able to do this. I will try to figure out why that is.... :Smarty:
I believe the host was doing more server work yesterday, let's see how it is today. I think the attachments have something to with OPA's separate posts. JW
I was just about to say that it's working wonderfully, but then it wouldn't load a comment, and wouldn't let me out of "Classic Buicks." It seems to be working OK now, but is a little slow. This thread did remind me to send in my annual tithe to the site, though.
