Due to some ignition parts wearing out I'm finally going to make a leap to distributorless on my 455. I'm looking for the cam sensor/oil pump drive that the Grand Nationals and Turbo Regals used on the 3.8L. E-bay usually has one of these sensor going for $135. I was wondering if anyone in Buick-land wants to help me out and has one of these collecting dust or sitting in a parts car somewhere and will let one go cheap? My HEI works fine as a cam sensor, but it'd be nice to remove the big cap from the front of the engine when I have the coil packs mounted up. Thanks. What it looks like. Why I've decided to change it out.
I found the lower part, I must have removed the sensor sometime ago. I still may have it. I will let you know by Monday.
Through a friend of a friend I'm getting a set of LS coils on the cheap of unknown year, but promises they work.
No problem, let me know if it turns up. I'll simply be leaving my HEI distributor in place until I get one. Thanks.
Keep us posted on the progress and lessons learned. I'm interested in a similar conversion. I'll keep checking your main thread.
Will do. I have a distributorless thread on the High Tech for Old Iron board I'll revive too. I can't remember if I updated my thread or not, my heads are currently in the mail on the way to JW at TriShield Performance for a little massaging.
