Just what kind of redneck hillbilly paints a nailhead engine John Deer green?????  I am spending the day getting that stuff off the engine that I bought....but it is tractor paint and really tuff.... lacuer thinner would not touch it.... having to grind it off with a die grinder....:Brow: John Deer green,,, :Brow: so I am gonna paint it ford red.....
Wow. The nerve of some people. On a Nailhead?? They could at least went with Detroit diesel green like I did!
You say redneck hillbilly like there is something wrong with it?? Tractor paint is tough stuff though.
David ,,,, if you know me at all,,, you will find out that I am not,,, not,,,, politically correct,,,, and dont want to be,,,, political correctness is a lot of what is wrong with this country.... but just for the record,, i live out in the sticks, in a log house with wood heat and a good spring for my water supply,,, squirrels in the yard, deer and wild turkeys everywhere,,, PITA, is my motto, people eating tasty animals.... how redneck is that???? yep, I am qualified to say someone is a redneck,,, i am one....
Well Doc, you know that we've talked before so I know that you are an old redneck hotroder. As for me, well I say what I mean and mean what I say. Shocks people sometimes! I just call it honesty. Honesty and politically correct don't go well together. That's just a side effect of growing up where there aren't any sidewalks and you know everyone in town by their first name. No turkeys on my property, but plenty of deer, and the elk are 30 feet out my back door at times. Strange thing is I've never eaten any of the critters that hang out in my yard! I go at least a mile from the house to get animals for that! Maybe instead of paining that nailhead a ford color you should go with a mopar purple! That would shock a few people. Including you whenever you open the hood!
The green is better than the John Deere yellow; that would have looked horrible. Case or MF red is pretty awful too. Seen a few of those too. And yes, the last Nail that I saw in Chevy orange was so embarrassed and disgusted with itself that it threw a rod, so I wouldn't recommend it either. A good engine has a soul too... Detroit Diesel green is nice though, a lot nicer than the "proper" Hirsch green I used on my Electra. Next time it comes apart I'll be painting it that instead of the "proper" colour.
People are going to freak,,,,, but,,,, I aint real wild about the Buick factory green.... I like the american motors green that they painted the iron engines with back in the mid 60's better....and ,,, i like the green that Grizzly paints their power tools....
