Well, we are a mere 2.5 months away from this event, so I thought I would try to help rally the V8 troops. I hope to see as many of you as possible again this year! If you have never been you are missing out. :beers2:
is it a bracket type race where you can lose and cant race anymore or can you race all night in classes?
All cars will be required to run time trials,as qualifying placement will be determined by your fastest ET. Upon completion of time trials, cars will be assigned a qualifying number and will race the same number qualifier from the other team in order of slowest to fastest. The number of races will be determined by the number of cars in attendance, in plain English, if there are 75 Fords and 70 Buicks there will be 70 races. All races will be heads up regardless of qualifying time, if your car is slower than your opponent, you didn't bring enough car! No excuses and no dial-ins, first car to the finish line wins! Each win counts as one point for your team and the team with the highest total wins the event and has the bragging rights for the next year. Pretty much, you run a 13.00 ET and you're qualifier # 77, you will run a Ford that is qualifier # 77. You dont know your opponents qualifying time, so you may be .01 between each other or 1.5 seconds. No one knows... It's an amazing event and is so much fun to attend, watching or racing.
It is more like a show, race and get together all wrapped up into one. The earlier you get there, the more TNT runs before the final pairings you are likely to accomplish. There was easily in excess of 100 Buicks there last year either racing or just hanging out to watch and look at the cars. There are also some pros planning on swinging by on their way to Bowling Green as well. Win or lose, everyone always seems to have a great time.
If you are thinking about finding a place to stay while you are there, this is a good option: Rubys Inn & Restaurant (405) 527-5577 1737 S Green Ave, Purcell, OK 73080
I thought we were out, but looks like we might be coming up for this. It is a bunch of fun. We will bring the motorhome and pull the red 72 as long as we get it ready to go. Just a few things needed. Ya'll look for us. I'm sure we will have to park away from the main area with our rig, but the motorhome is all I have left with a hitch. Might even do a little cooking out for our Buick friends.
Got the shifter and tach mounted. The engine should start getting assembled this week. Have to order some new tires (sure the 8 year old BFG DR's are hard by now) and misc stuff.... really thinking its gonna happen!:TU:
Ok, who all is going? We won't be hard to find. Everybody come by and see us. I'll have a grill and stuff if anybody wants to toss anything on. We'll have the motorhome and the red 72.
