Does anybody make a better stopping brake shoe.I cant stop my GS with my new 464 motor. It's a white knuckle ride trying to stop thingray:
My GS has four wheel drum.I checked them sanded them down good and adjusted the brakes shoes.A new master cylinder bench bled it i have a good brake pedal at 30 to 60 mph it stops good.but 70 mph and faster you better hang on.ray:
The new ceramic shoes work well: http://www.mpbrakes.com/products/product_line/drum_brakes.cfm and http://www.musclecarbrakes.com/bib6473regal.html - Bill
Craig, Now you know why Buick made disc brakes mandatory on the 71-up GS455/Stage1 cars....if you plan to keep it....get disc brakes.
Have you made sure everything is correct on your brake system? The manual drums on my car actually work really well. Yeah, I know they are not superior to discs, Blah, blah, blah, but they can be made to work well.
I agree, drum brakes stop great the first time. I think they are fine for daily driving so long as you are aware of fade and are on top of maintaining them. If you can afford discs there is no reason not to use them but if you want to stick with drums they can perform well enough to be considered safe
