All right! My transmission is done, just have to get it an hour north in a snow storm! Actually, I will be waiting until the salt has washed off the roads but my converter and the OD wiring kit is all in and the tranny has been assembled. Wish me luck!
Anxious to hear how the 200 4 works out for you. I hope it does well. We are still having pump area hard part failures.
Finally got it to the shop. Boy, was that a cold ride without heat! The weather is going to get bad around here so I may not get it back or on the road for a few weeks! I'll keep you posted. Then I have the rear end swap after that.
I do not know. It is whatever he is familiar with and has used in the past. That was enough of a recommendation for me. I will find out and post back once I've got the car back.
Got the call today! My car is done. Just have to find time now to get up there and drive it back. Got a lockup wired in and he says it runs well so just timing now.
Well, my guy called today, just before I was headed to pick it up and he says he's not happy with the torque converter. He used a 10" and feels the clutch for the lockup is already going down hill. He's going to swap it for a 12" and see if that holds any better. So, big torque on a 10" lockup converter is maybe not a good idea. More news as it happens.
Depends on how good the converter is and what you are using it for. Good premium converters like the ones from Circle D actually have a larger clutch than the old 12" D5. And, if you want to lock it up under full throttle, they have multidisc setups that can handle that too. http://www.circledspecialties.com
Did not see anything in the circle d site about 200-4r converters. Too bad they look really nice and I have heard good things about them.
No Worries, they make em. Each one is custom built based on an extensive spec sheet of your car and engine combo. Here are a couple picks of the one I just received for my car:
That is a good looking torque converter. I can't wait to get my car on the road! When will you have yours in?
Yesterday I received my oil pan which was the last piece of the puzzle. However, my business is really busy right now. So, I have no time to play with my toys. Hopefully I can do the swap in March.
I have a 200r4 and I use Pro Torque convertor. Seems to work well with the nitrous I use. I used Janis Transmission in Akron Ohio. He is the guy for The Grand National is our area. I use a 3000 stall with lockup.
