Light grey with white flecks.... EDIT...no black flecks! The best paint is made by Zolatone. It takes some experience to spray it properly. But it's hi-quality stuff. You can get it here: http://www.tcpglobal.com/autobodydepot/trunkfinish.aspx You can find something in a similar color in spray-cans from other suppliers. Not as durable, but it'll do. In 1967, Buick started using a black with green flecked paint.
Walt ...Hello are you color blind? the correct color for 66 is a tan with white specked paint.....in Flint, Balt ,and Kans cars Fremont cars used the grey or the black i have seen both... or maybe i'm color blind....
Damn Jim...now I have to go out into the cold and double check! My mistake... it's not GREY....it's GRAY.ou: (what's the difference anyway??) Definitely not Tan. The fabric mat is tan. The paint is gray with white flecks. Here's the spray can paint from Plastikote: http://www.plasti-kote.com/plastikote/auto/template.jsp?searchcode=RES&product=AutoTrunk I bought the Zolatone 'silver-gray' #20-72. Haven't sprayed it yet tho. http://www.tcpglobal.com/autobodydepot/zolatone20.aspx
OK I took some pics...and I guess its a grey color...with a tanish tint to it...but the original stuff has dark brown spatter speckles I took some pics of my low mile 66 GS and the file is too big for here...I can email it
Please email it to me too. I would love to be able to help out the guy restoring my Flint-made '66 GS. I'll PM you the email address. Thanks.
Thanks so much for the pictures. I will make sure my resto guy has this information and the pictures. I'm just doing what I can to guarantee my car gets done right.
Anybody know where to get a correct trunk mat for a '66 Skylark? The one that I ordered from RockAuto was from Auto Custom Carpets and did not fit properly. Any help would be appreciated.
It might vary with where the car was built. My Fremont cars don't have it, but my Baltimore cars do. Cars sells the correct material (or did). It's a tan weave with foam backing.
