WOW! this car is a real beauty... http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Buic...6e0QQitemZ180444157664QQptZUSQ5fCarsQ5fTrucks i am not familiar with standard options for a 76 C body buick. is the cruise, rear defogger and the AC the only added options added to this? was the 455 or 350 standard on a 76? anyone notice any other non-standard items? those bumpers look a mile wide when they dont have optional bumper gaurds on them.
That beauty was listed on eBay before. 455 was standard (could have a 350 though), it has A/C (and not ACC), no 8-track, no power door locks, non telescope steering wheel, no passenger side mirror, no trip-set/speed alert, no power antenna, no heated rear window (for that reason the switches were "black"?): a low optioned car, but still a gem.
why is the block to the right of the defog switch white? i know most of the stuff 74 had available so here is what i see missing from that stuff that i can spot off the top of my head. no vigilites i didnt see the air ride pump under the hood. no cornering lights no trash recepticle on the passenger kick panel no console no ACRS no passenger mirror no low fuel light looks like the radio is AM only ... wonder if it has rear speakers or just front. no power trunk release no posi sticker in the trunk no max-trac no under hood light? dont know about mirror maplighted visors map light between the visors . here are some upgrades i see missing.. delay wipers power seats(was recline available) chrome wheels wide lower stainless trim padded vinyl top leather or cloth seating . but it is indeed a beautiful car it just seems strange.
A decal to block the hole for the trip set / speedo alert o No: On the other hand; that could also have be a solution for the remote passenger side mirror cable... but that one is black
Here's one for sale with even lower milage (18K) and more options (Park Avenue; still lacks chrome plated wheels/fender monitors): http://cincinnati.craigslist.org/cto/1486815092.html
maybe the white is an ejector seat button in case someone gave the owner crap for not opting out the car. is that your ride? i bet that console is pretty rare. does your car have a low fuel light?
I have never seen a underhood light on these. Was it available on full size Buicks as a factory option or only as a dealer installed accessory? Max trac was not available after 1974 My car has the posi axle but I never noticed it had a sticker about it in the trunk, where is it, in the trunk door? I'm wondering if ACRS was really available in 1976 Buicks, I have never seen one equipped with airbags. And if it was available, I'm wondering how the impact detector was fitted as the 1976 bumper didn't allow mounting it in the same location as the 1974-75 LeSabre/Electra bumper and the parts catalogs I have seen don't show a mounting bracket for them like there was in the Olds/Cadillac models equipped with this option.
That is an AM 8 track player, isn't it? Why the "selector" button on the right side knob? Also.. No tilt at all, no power seats... why, why, why? Nice bumper fillers, though... Beautiful car though.
all 4 of my 74s have had underhood lights. none of my 75-76 models. maybe they didnt have them. i think i was wrong about the posi sticker. i think it was 60s models that had a sticker on NON-posi car warning about the car rolling with one tire off the ground. i didnt know that about maxtrac. i was thinkin that ACRS had stopped with the body style. maybe i was wrong there too .... after 74, things get blurry. phil, any parts you are lookin for ... i am goin to my derby guys place in a couple weeks.
I have had a Buick electra Park Avenue 1976. It was an awesom car. Silver outside and red inside very nice. Maybe i will find something like that some day. Goran
My '74 LeSabre didn't have a underhood light either, post a picture of yours, I'd like to see how it's installed! Also, did you take more pics of your '74 Electra? I'd really like to see more of it! As for ACRS, it's still listed as an option on the 1976 Buicks but I never saw one with it. Maybe they do exist. If someone has ordered production information for 1976 full size Buicks from the Sloan Museum, maybe they'd have the information. The option code is "AR3". As for parts, I don't think I need anything right now. But I'd like to find bumper impact strips in good condition for both the front and rear bumper as well as front bumper guards with impact strips. If you come across green floor mats or a mirror thermometer with a Buick badge, I'd take them too!
Yuk, if you can find a nice pair of the vigilite fender monitors (I now know where to find the lenses if broken :beer ) I would like to purchase them. It is mainly the inserts which I'm after... I got the optic fibre cables and can buy the repop chrome caps...
Just this evening I read a thread of somebody looking for a Max-Trac set up.... can't remember where...AACA/BCA? Centurion forums? Will post a link when found.
Not looking for a complete set up: http://forums.aaca.org/f117/71-73-buick-max-trac-speed-269815.html
