Hello, I have had my car for 10 years. It has all the markings of a stage car, but the original motor is gone. The transmission has the BB tag for being a stage, and the vin numbers on the transmission match the vin on the car. Is that enough evidence to confirm it being a stage 1? (the vin# also shows it being built in Flint) Thoughts? James
Do you have the Protecto-Plate? Some of the equipment codes should be listed on it, including BB for the Stage 1 tranny. That "should" be enough proof for almost anyone.
Transmission serial number matches the car's VIN, and has a 'BB' tag? Good enough for a 1969 car. Please consider registering it and join us at the factory 'Stage1 Convention' to be held at the 2010 BPG Nationals in Columbus OH next July
I believe I do have the protecto plate...if I recall it is a platic card looking thing (red/black/white)? What will this tell me? Thanks, I will register it soon. james
You have original #'s matching BB Stage 1 trans That proves 100%, without question, that your car is a Stage 1 car
Ditto...agreed! Find that Protect-o-Plate and you will have even more documentation. It should confirm the paint, interior, engine, tranny, and rearend build info.
I will get some pictures...but she aint pretty! I have the drive train all done and the undercarriage is 90% ready, but the outside needs some love. I plan to attack that after I finish my garage. The interior is actually pretty good for being original. The front seats have a couple seams split, I have wondered if this can be repaired. (I would like to keep it original) 455 -Since the original 400 is gone. (I used all the original stage stuff from the 400) Pearl White interior- buckets, console, tilt. disc brakes, and front and rear sway bars. Thanks for the info, I can call it a Stage1 now!
Not really so it will stay fixed. You will have to replace the entire panel but if you do that with white it will not match the old material. Since no matter what do decide, you have to remove the entire cover for any repair I would just buy a new set of seat covers from Legendary. The labor will be the same.
i have same bb trans matching vin w original stg 1 hood emlems and chrome rocker covers.mine is very rough
Sorry guys, no pictures of the car yet. But, I did snap a few shots of the protect-o-plate and some other thingamajig. This must be only a portion of the protectoplate...it doesn't appear to mean anything. The other thing looks to list the trim code, but I don't see anything to reflect a stage car??
Wow...I have only seen a very very few of those glovebox cards. If I am not mistaken, Duane can read them and determine alot of the info.Contact him and see what he can do for you with it. Those holes are specicic to codes for the car..
I have another green card that has similar punch outs, but it doesn't have any verbiage in the punched out areas. It is about the same size as the one pictured, but the punch areas are different. The original motor was swapped for one out of a junk yard in Olympia WA. What is Duanes last name? Thanks, James
