You have a 431 cu. in nailhead-powered '82 Chevy pickup and this is the best that you can do for a fuel system.
That engine sure looks good in there. If you want to start redneck pictures, here's my daughter in the horses water beating the heat the other day. The dog was in the bigger one so she jumped in here. She put the dirt in there first.
I did notice that there isn't a single beer can in the bed of the truck, or any trash for that matter. Kinda suspicious for a redneck truck.
OK - you caught me - I hate Bud Lite, I love Guinness Draught - But the fuel pickup is a hunk of PVC that is supposed to be a feed for a toilet! That's gotta count for something...
I've got to admit, as a guy who use to be known for the old "Hey watch this", and who hangs out with plenty of hillbilly types, that if you drove the wife to IHOP for a nice dinner with that thing hooked up like that, you might be a redneck.
I'm not buying it. If I run with my tailgate down it's still going to look dirty, have left over hay mess, maybe some cedar that I picked up in the woods, probably some empty brass from shooting, and god only knows what other bits of crud in there. My truck was probably no more than two weeks old last time it looked that clean in the bed. I think he's one of them fancy city "red necks".
A tailgate is the place that you put the keg! On a more serious note though.... That set up doesn't look too safe to me. You need a bungee or some bailing twine. Might loose your fuel can under acceleration.
Hi David, Seriously, this "fuel system" is a one-shot deal. I need to drive the truck to the airplane hanger where I did the engine swap. We are going to remove the bed for access to the two fuel tanks. I am going to remove the senders, check the O-ring location, and apply an aircraft fuel tank sealer to the top of the fuel tanks. I will then install a rubber flap that covers the senders. GM in it's brilliance located the senders exactly under the gap between the bed and the cab. I am sure that this is for access to the hoses and wiring, but it rains directly on the sender. I intend to solve my water in the fuel problem for once and for all. I have now removed, disassembled, and cleaned my carburetor three times and it is beginning to get old. BTW: My Dale Earnhardt front plate is just out of the photo of the gas can.
Yup, like holding the fuel line to the bed rail. Or maybe half a roll holding the can down. But I'm just nit-pickin', I think you'll qualify with that rig. :beers2:
I would like to see those pictures if you don't mind sharing? My Left tank is rusted to hell I have 3 inline see thru filters before it goes to the diverter switch {$100new} & the Right tank the sending unit don't work. My 88 was fuel injected now it carbed I had both tanks out & cleaned them but they need to come down again. I think they were designed to take the bed off to repair them, but my bed is too involved with the running boards & all that other crap. PS A real redneck would have used a Fosters Lager beer can stolen from the recycling center, with stolen gas from the recycling center and when he got caught he'd say; "well I was doin' my duty & recycling , I shur wish y'all would get yer chit together this is too high tech & confusing for me." STEALIN!? I was recyclin' SR66:TU:
I know it's temp. Just having fun! The nailhead sure dresses up that truck. If this were a permanent fuel system, you would have used a bigger gas can!
