That's the eventual plan. The problem is I'll need to clear brush and saplings that have overgrown the 5 acres back to where it is.:eek2: Believe me, if I could pull it out right now and drop it into my car i would. Three gears is better that two. Thanks for that info though, it'll save a lot of sweat, tick checks and chiggers.:TU: :Brow:
Nevermind on the fabbing. I went out and looked at it anyway. There's no converting that over.:eek2: Still gonna snag that st400 one day:Brow: ! Oh well. It was a nice thought. I'm gonna check with Bruce Roe and see if he's got any units ready to ship. A new modulator first though. Who knows, it might be the problem even though I replaced it.o No:
Well, a new modulator didn't change anything. I just adjusted the low band according to specs. Gonna go for a ride and see if that has changed anything. The only other thing I can think of is the low vacuum reading. There may very well be a leak into the intake manifold that I can't find.
If the transmission won't shift at WOT, I suggest you try a different governor. The modulator shouldn't cause that problem. At WOT, vacuum is at or near 0. The governor controls WOT shift points. If you can't resolve this, you may in fact have an internal problem with the transmission like a valve body issue.
Went out and checked the Gov. Nothing sticking. All its parts move smoothly and the gear is as right as rain. dcm442 sent me a message back. (Thanks for the connect Larry.) He suggested: 1. Disconnect the electical connection at the trans. That will eliminate a faulty switch. 2. Check the Gov. (See above.) 3. Check the kickdown solenoid in the trans. If it's stuck open, broken, or has loose bolts(?!) it won't shift. 4. See if the shift valve is stuck. I'll go for another little drive here soon and see what happens. After having done everything else by this point it's gotta be 3 or 4. Or something seriously wrong.ray: :ball: How PITA is it to remove and check the shift valve?
Well, it's been a while, so I thought I would "tie off" this thread. I never figured out what was wrong. I picked up a cherry, but used, st300 and installed it. Works great. If I ever find out where to get the solenoids to go with a rebuild kit I'm gonna do it myself and see what the problem was/is. I'll then post it here for posterity.
