if that doesnt work and it is the valve body for sure then you can pull it off, clean it in a parts washer or some kind of solvent and use a small pick and some wd-40 to stroke the valves to see if they move back and fourth. another test you can do is a line pressure test. but you will need a pressure guage to screw into the pressure tap. :beer
Well, I was heading out of town and figured I'd dump some TransTune in it to see if it would clear things up. I put a new coil in it, and it had been running perfect around town for the last week. Now my 1-2 shift is gone as well. The misfire came back once I hit the highway as well. I may be suffering from a self inflicted gun shot wound to the face in short time. Same thing as before, the trans feels like it is free wheeling when it tries to go from 1st to 2nd. What in the hell?
Could be 1-2 shift valve is not working or the intermediate clutch is either not applying or is worn. Sounds like a rebuild is in store for you.
Trans was supposed to come out tonight, but the crossmember bolt rounded and the tranny line was on it's way. I'll hit it with a grinder and some PB Blaster tomorrow morning. The fluid definitely smells like something very bad happened.
