The 407" Nailhead in my Model A has Tom's Rocker Arm's on it, and they are awesume. The engine was completely built by the men at Joe Mondello's Racing Engines in Crossville, TN. and they did a spectacular job ! Hey Glenn Caveman..AWESOME ROD DOOD! :TU: I suppose if I can ever make it UP THERE sometime, I'm certain I'd see you and your "rods" at local shows? :beers2: Sooo, just WHERE do you hang out with that gorgeous car??? o No: Wheelz, Seminole area, Pinellas County
Tom, hope you are doing well! We have talked in the past but it's been some time now and wanted to catch up with your progress on your rockers. Sounds like they are doing great and holding on their own with those who have purchased. I'm interested, but just to let you know again I'm no ASAE certified mechanic but I can find my way around with a little direction. I have a 63 Buick riviera with a B262 Edelbrock, 2 600cfm Edelbrock thunder series carbs with Dave Rays rebuilt distributor (HEI). Everything else stock with 81,000 original on the clock. She can turn the tires as she is but wanted a little more "go" (Dynaflow may be holding her back?) and needed to know if the rockers are a bolt on app or? Again it's been some time since we talked and it was about a mini starter that would work with the Dynaflow, anything yet on that also.... Thanks, Tom L.
tom, I can personally say that these ARE a bolt-on setup.. I put these on my '64 riv with 112k unopened engine, and really felt a seat of the pants difference... The only thing you may want to do that is a little "advanced" is check the piston-to-valve clearance... "just in case" (I had ZERO issues with mine):3gears: Wes
Tom, Do you still have a set of rockers around there or are you waiting to get the next batch? I need to mock up my 364 and would like to borrow a pair of Lefts and Rights to check my Piston to Valve with the cam that is coming. Mike
Hey Tom, I wanted to double check that these should work well on a 322" build as well. I would think that the added lift would make a huge improvement over the stock 1.5(adv) rockers. Not to mention the weight should be an improvement over the stock iron rockers, or atleast no significant increase.
Yes they will Joe. They are much lighter weight than the iron stockers. Remember when we weighed them??? But, it's even more important to check V/P clearance.
Just trying to plan a looooong term project. 120"wheelbase Front engine dragster. way way off in the future.:3gears:
After haveing these on the car for over a year and not really looking at them ,they are off right now and I just want to say what a awesome piece they really are... Top Of the line..........
I recently profiled a stock 401 cam and a Poston NH 400 cam....Tom's rockers added approx 0.050" lift to each cam!! V-P clearance was reduced by only about 0.020", which should be fine in most cases. Adding the Rollers to a stock cam is similar to putting in a hp cam without affecting the driveability of the stocker. One day this winter I'll get around to posting some graphs of the improvement...
Plus you don't have to open the motor up, change all of those gaskets, break in a new cam. etc... it can be done in about an hour, including checking the VP clearance. Only like 12 bolts total!!! It really is a cheap way to get the increase when you consider a cam, lifters, gasket set, oil change, coolant etc...cost.
