Plz don't shoot the messenger but doesn't comp already offer a roller core? http://www.compcams.com/Technical/CamCores.asp RACE ROLLER CAM CORES - STEEL BILLET (ROUND) 92-000-0 BUICK 350 V8 96-000-0 BUICK 400,430,455 V8 (1967-76)
Race roller cams(steel billet) require that you use a bronze distributor gear and electric fuel pump. Plus, a race core would probably be pretty radical requiring high spring pressures. I don't see any listing for Buick under street roller cams.
Its says core, meaning its not cut right??? You could then cut it for a street app right??? Or is the term core something else??? I assume it a big hunk of round metal, you then machine to your own specs. Being race or street shouldn't matter if it just a hunk of metal that need machined. Course I have no clue here. Just noticed it. Just thought maybe it owuld be helpful, no use making the wheel if you can already get it. Might wanna sk if they have street cores. Save TA the work in making them.
The street cores Mike is talking about would be for street use. You could use a mechanical fuel pump, and regular distributor gears. The lift would be smaller and would require much less spring pressures. A billet race roller is a different animal.
Lifters?? $500...uses v-6 Buick lifters. Once you order a "blank", you still have to pay for a grind. This cam is already, WAY TOO PRICEY for what you gain. There has got to be a cheaper way to make a 350 Buick roller cam. 307 Olds lifters may be the same size. I will see what I can dig up cause $500 for lifters is not reasonable to me, its a street motor, not pro-stock.
Folks, The 350 hyd roller cam cores will be the first to be finished. We are hoping to have them sometime in Oct. The Nailheads should be second and this time the 455 will be last. So those that have interest please call and place your order. No deposit needed at this time. We will call you back when the part is ready to ship. The first run will only be 50 cams. This should open the door for modern day cam profiles and help all the cam wear issues. We thank all of you that have already called. p.s. Hyd roller lifters should be around $385.00
this would have saved me a call today if i seen this yesterday LOL come one guys put an order in for these may sound pricey compared to the old setup but it'll makeup for that in performance and longtivity. You guys need to realize that if you buy new "small" products that'll hopefully show the vendors that'll it'll be worth doing R&R for other bigger products such as affordable al intakes and alumunum heads! so again.. get those orders in need to follow suit otherwise we'll just keep getting overlooked in the performance products.
Mike, Would 300/340 Hydra. roller cams be out of the question? Could turbo V6 roller lifters be used? Or factory roller lifters from late model 3.8L?
