1970 Aquamist Stage 1 4 speed for sale. Sam Davis's old car. A rare car in a rare color. This ought to be interesting. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Buick-Skylark-GS-Stage-1-1970-Buick-GS-Stage-1-4-speed_W0QQitemZ160258144812QQihZ006QQcategoryZ16124QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem
Holy cow...less than 32,000 was the high bid! Don't tell the wife she knows how much I paid for mine! Yikes!
I suspect that one of the issues may have been his feedback rating, which was 83.3% (albeit with only a few transactions). John
Again....one more example of how the market is down on these cars. That car should have gone for way more than that. Reserve was not meet. Big surprize there huh!
They are only worth what someone else can get financing for. And financing is no longer easy - never should have been.
People finance these? ( Just Kidding) Heck 32000 is cigar money for cars as rare as these cars are. I believe fewer of these where made than COPO Chevrolets. Collectors will tell you the top of the food chain in any manufacturer, will always be a wise buy. Besides a paint job and a couple of small items, there is no difference between a 250,000 and and 32,000 dollar stage 1. I don't get it. Look at ram air IV GTO's compared to Ram air IV GTO Judges. There is just to much of a price gap with Stage 1 4 speed and a GSX stage one 4 speed. Am I the only one who thinks that way? I can count on my hands the number of 4 speed Stage 1 cars, I have personally seen, both GSX and regular. Just my 2 cents. Jim
Just saw a COPO Camaro at a show and was surprised to see "1 of 700" in the window. I thought they were rarer than that. That's high production compared to Stage 1 numbers .
I know I have been interested in cars on Ebay and offered more to the seller then was bid on the site privately. Not all offerings and bids end up in the bidder section! Even in this market. I'm sure the right buyer would pay way more then the final bid amount if he was aware of this car. I know if I was shopping for this car. I certainly would! Many collectors don't go to Ebay. Just my thoughts Patrick
