Thought you folks would like these! I'm placing dozens of old road tests out on YouTube for everyone to enjoy. More to come...:beers2: 1972 Riviera GS http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l8ZJ2zW9poI 1973 Gran Sport http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kTavyisTF80 Check out the other road tests I have out there so far (click on "More From: MaccaIsntDead" when you get there). Hope you like these... Mike
WOW! That 72 GS made my day :beers2: Look at that the new chrome in the interior! Look at the four-wheel drifts and the tail out action! Look at the INSANE slalom boogie! What a great thing to see after my car has been static for so long. Sweet:TU:
Mike, Thank you for the links...Did Speed Channel run these? Are they still being aired??? What program??? I want more! I want more!! I want more!!!
Glad you guys enjoyed them! Yes, these were originally aired on Speedvision about 10-12 years ago. They haven't aired them since. I'm trying to get some more posted. As for full-sized Buicks, I also have a 71 Riviera (non GS), a 74 LeSabre, and a 72 Centurion. I'm trying to get word out to the other fans of these great cars, but I don't belong to other Buick forums (I like this site anyway). :beer Mike
Those were great shows. I think I have most of them on VHS. I never liked how Speedvision apologized for the show at the beginning of each episode. Watching the test driver flog the hell out of the cars is always worth a good laugh. Thanks :TU:
Every time I drive mine like that, I can hear the battery clunking around. I suppose they didn't do that when the car was new and the tray wasn't rotted out. That's some cool video. I would swear a 3.42:1 rear with a posi would do 0-60 faster than 8.4 seconds. That was 1972 tire technology, too, I suppose. That must make a big difference. I think I could muster 8.6-8.8 with my one legger, highway geared, 250 HP 455. Traction is a big problem. Nick
I used to watch those on Speed all the time! That driver was CRAZY! He was off the track more than on. When testing braking, aren't you supposed to test the brakes, not the sliding ability of the tires? GREAT videos!
I'm trying to upload some more videos today (been busy the last few days). Sorry for the delay. I'll try to get to the other full-sized Buicks as soon as I can. :beer
I just put up a 1974 LeSabre video (unfortunately, it's a 2-bbl), still trying to get to the Centurion video, which was a 455-4V. :Comp: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q_MgXWI7pMI
Mike, I cant thank you enough for posting those old Car & Track videos. Bud Lindemann's comments are priceless- "If that doesnt excite you, you better check your pulse" and describing the cornering ability of the 71 442- "the Olds danced throught the pylons like a ballerina" LOL! Very entertaining!!
Since I found these videos I can't begin to count the number of times I've watched them. Thanks. :3gears:
Holy crap, he's counter-steering in the curves! Just like Doc Hudson would tell you to do! Fantastic stuff, thanks for posting it! :TU:
