How does vacuum get to this thing?I've had no heat in my car so I removed the valve and just ran a complete heater hose and now have heat. The valve works--I can move it back and forth freely. It looks like the vacuum hose goes thru the firewall and ends up at a diaphram next to the gas pedal. Pete
that hose should come from the swith on the dash. Opens up the valve when you switch from cool to heat. I have a diagram of all the vacuum hoses for the system I could email you if you tell me your email. I left it off of mine and heat works fine. Just blocked off the vacuum hose. I may add it back next year.
I don't know if I heard or read it, but I remember that the valve only operates when the A/C is put on MAX cool , the valve shuts flow off to the heater core. Don't know if that helps.o No:
The white striped hose connected to heater control inside car goes to heater valve. Fitting at back of carb has hose that goes to plastic vacuum can and other port on can has hose that goes inside to heater control. Source of vacuum is carb.
That is it Dave:Smarty: !!! Found the hose from the canister and plugged it into the back of the carb (where it was capped off) hooked the small hose from the canister and hooked it to the valve I had removed(bypassed) and it works!!! Great INTEL thanks guys, Pete
Actually the small hose from the plastic can goes through the firewall gromet to the heater control unit and another hose goes from the heater control unit under the dash back through the firewall to the heater valve on the heater hose if that make sense. At leat you have vacuum back.
Thanks again Dave,in addition to heat,I have vent, and defrost controls,to blow heat or cool. I have hooked up the heater valve again and of course it works shutting from hot to cold.:TU: Pete
