Is there such a thing? I know about Chevrolet and Oldsmobile have some sort of guide, but is there a Buick version? Have a 71 Riviera P-O-P and would like to decipher it.
www.atlantabuick.com P-O-P guide is under "Identify Your Gran Sport" in the "Gran Sport Muscle" section. or As Randy said post it here. :TU:
Compared the P-O-P page on the Atlanta site with this plate, but since this plate is a 71 Riviera, I'd figured there were more differences than simularities. I mirrored the P-O-P scan: It is not my car, I just purchased the trim tag, P-O-P and a 71 owners manual to add to my Buick collection of books manuals etc Was wondering if there was such a thing as a guide to decypher P-O-P's in the future. Thanks :TU:
To decipher the info you need factory reference material for all the various models for each year of manufacture. This info is sometimes shown in the front of the Shop Manual, or Fisher Body Manual for any given year. The POP plate usually has the owner info, selling dealer info, and specific info pertaining to the vehicle. The info on a POP will match some of the info on the firewall body tag which was applied by Fisher, while the body sequence number and VIN number are different. The POP usually has: Body Trim No. Paint Code Engine Production Code No. Transmission Production Code No. VIN # (vehicle identification no.) Month Built Code Axle Code Accessory and Options Code Dave 'thepartsman' is an expert on GM data ! :beer :TU:

There is still an ongoing discussion about the POP time built codes. For my opinion on these, send me an email. :TU: Also in the future there is plans for a POP breakdown chart for other years but at this time I am still rebuilding the site after the MAJOR hacking Atlanta Buick recieved in May. David
David, thanks for so much effort :beers2: A breakdown chart for all Buicks would be a very good addition to the Atlanta site (which of course is in "my favorites"). I'm always hungry for these types of information. Pity that all that kind of info is spread over the internet; -the VIN excel file from Bob K Mando -production figures etc on buicks.net -P-O-P breakdown on Atlanta -color charts at autolibrary (and buick.net) -window sticker at Mike Trommeter's site -BBB indentification (and much more) at George Nenadovich's Buick Performance site Thanks!!!
I know that this is a long dead thread. The link above appears to be dead now. I wonder if there is any info on the protecto plates for 1968's?
