Anyone running 18x8 in the rear of a 67 GS or skykark? I have some 18x8 in the rear and the tire is getting chewed up on the rear passenger side. I am running 275 40 18 Firehawk Indy tires in the rear. Torq Thrust 2 18x8 with 4.5 backspacing Anyone have an 18 inch wheel combo that works? I might have to go with 17's
Jose, Where is the tire getting chewed up??? Can you slightly roll the outside lip a little??? So many questions??? Tom T.
The wheel diameter has nothing to do with it. On any 8" wide wheel, the back spacing needs to be at least 5" for the Buick A bodies prior to 1969.
Tire is getting chewed up at the top of the face of the tire(12 o clock). The Previous owner appears to have cut slits and then rolled/ folded the lip up. I might be able to trim it more but I dont want to loose the ability to add the wheel chrome trim. I removed it since I didn't want to damage it
True, won't change much of the tire position/ height. I didn't see any of these wheels with the 5" backspace. Might have to go with a different wheel or see if they American Racing can make some.
It looks like they only offer 18x9 in 5" backspace. 17x8 has more options for backspace. I might have to sell my set and order a new one
