Zipped or unzipped?

When putting the top down, how many people unzip their rear window, vs letting it fold? Reason I ask is that re-zipping the window is a real pain in the rear, even with the top partially lowered to release tension.

    Thanks in advance!

I've never had a window that zipped in. Stitched flexible plastic, and stitched glass.
If it's plastic, I'd think unzipping it would be better for keeping it in good shape.

My father said he once had a convertible with a zippered window, and he'd take it out when he left the top up - to get a nice breeze.

I've never driven the car with the top up, but I can see how having the rear window unzipped would be nice. I only put the top up when I park it in the garage for more than a few days, and have it covered. I've left the window unzipped, but then I'm afraid of critters getting in.

Anybody have any ideas on how to make the zipper move easier? I'm afraid to spray anything on it like silicon, for fear of damaging the top.

    Thanks,

    Keith

belive it or not(wasnt that a tv show?)COOKING SPRAY! like PAM,ive used that to lube everything from my kids swing set bushings that anoyed the hell out of me to squeaky front-end bushings & window cranks :TU: it works & wont hurt the fabric  and when you use the window as a cooking device,it tastes good!!! :Dou: it works, bottom line :TU:

How to release your zippers tension

Try rubbing a candle on the teeth of the zipper, helps to make it slide easier.

When putting the top up or down we leave about a 12" gap between the top of the windshield and the tops frame. If one of us doesn't hold it there we just support it with a blanket. Seems to release the tension from the zipper for our window which is very old.

    Thank you!

Thanks for the good ideas, guys. Wonder if my wife will miss a candle from our Christmas decorations LOL! I'm already zipping it up with the top partially lowered, so that the window isn't under tension. My top and window are about 10 years old, but the window is still in great shape, and I want to keep it that way.
