Looking for the seal that goes over the engine ball stud. I havent seen them repoped and was wondering if one from another car might work. What are all you 4-speed guys using?

I have a NOS one. The only other one I have ever seen belongs to another X owner in California. Somewhere along the road of my search I was told that a Dodge truck seal will work. I do not remember the year.

How about a picture when you find one?

I've noticed the vendors that sell the felt seals claim 2 per which indicates they are suggesting using the felt seal on the block side as well.

The BBB and SBB and 6cyl use different seals on the block side of the Z-bar.

    BBB part # 1375616

    SBB part # 382658

The BBB seal totally covers the ball stud at the Z-bar.

They are fully illustrated in the service manuals and assembly manuals.

I have never seen one in person.

I think I could use 1 or 2 for my 71 and 73 car..Probably will have to refinance the house to get one.

Ok then if someone buys one from their local dodge dealer please post a pic and part # so the rest of us can also get some type of substitute.

I have used a chrysler seal on my 70 gs for 15 years with no problems after 60000 miles and several engine and clutch repairs. I have some on order and will post a pic with the part # when they arrive.

Here is a pic of the grease seal I use. Yes it is a MOPAR part # J3170937 from an 80's K-car. It's a tight fit the 1st time you install it. Take the ball stud off the engine block, install the seal on the ball stud then put the ball stud back on the engine and complete the installation of the linkage. Put some grease on the boot before installing the Z-bar to aid in getting the Z-bar inside the boot.

Try to have the part as warm and flexible as possible and do grease the inside of it and the z-bar to aid in assembly.
