With Nats coming up, I got to wondering if there are any restaurants that I should consider in BG. Seems I always end up at the same places but I wouldn’t want to miss out on some good grub. So, what are your favorites?
Teresa’s is good for a hearty breakfast. Not fast but really good. (We had to find it after Judy’s Castle closed). Mellow Mushroom is a chain but their BG location is cool. There’s a Barbecue joint not far from the track-Smokey Pig-really good, too. Patrick
Smokey Pig....Mellow Mushroom and Chick-fil-A right next to the Red Roof Probably gonna give the Alley Cat(old White Squirrel) a visit on tuesday Peace WildBill p.s.....Chuey's is good too....especially if you like frozen margaritas !!
Local things you can't get most other places. Links to the good ones. I have no financial incentive in any of these. I honestly have eaten at all of them and take friends and family there. Also, TripAdvisor is usually a good guide. I have written some of the reviews there and generally agree with the others I have read. Lisa's 5th St Diner is similar to Teresa's. It is close to the Napa store downtown. I like it but they are only open until 2PM so only breakfast and lunch. Parking can also be tight at peak. The nearby park works for parking. Local Taco is a pretty good taco place. You will pass it on the right as you head to the track on the 31W Bypass. Close to the Hospital. Mister B's is a pretty good sports bar, pizza and wings place. It across the parking lot from Rafferty's. El Mazatlan (any location) has always been good Mexican but I haven't eaten at the one on the bypass. The one down by the Harley-Davidson dealer is decent with good parking, walking distance to a few hotels. Los Mariachis is also good Mexican. It is in the Kroger shopping center near the Shoe Carnival. Overtime is a sports bar and grill. They have decent burgers, pizzas and about 50 TVs if you need a fix for a game. Double Dogs is on the corner of Scottsville Rd and the Greenview Hospital. They have good burgers, lots of TVs but it can be very loud in there. The Pub by Novo and Novo Dulce both have very similar menus, run by the same folks but it is good food, burgers, pizza, full bar, TVs. More room at The Pub near Greenwood Mall. Novo Dolce is on the bypass close to Harbor Freight/Autozone. Montana Grille is a pretty good steak and an interesting building. They do serve lunch around the side, called the Lunch Box but the main dining room is not open. Hickory & Oak is a steak place but be warned, it is pricier than a lot of BG and they serve everything ala carte. Located downtown near Fountain Square Park. Me and my wife usually drink water and it is at least $80 for the two of us. It is for our special occasions. I haven't eaten at Mariah's and liked it for a while now. My wife was there a few days ago and wasn't impressed. You might get a good meal, it might be cold. Puerto Vallarta is another one that is hit or miss for Mexican. The one close to the mall is my least favorite lately.
I remember the old Mariah’s from the ‘90s (I think it burned?) I don’t remember the food, maybe because of all the Long Island Iced Teas being enjoyed by Team Nailhead that year… Patrick
If you like Japanese Yuki is very good. Try their Long Horn Roll. Found it excellent. It's close to the Ramada.
I like Raffertys and Montana Grille. We usually hit The Longhorn as well. Lots of great places to eat off of 231.
We will get into town about 4 AM Wednesday morning. I get a big bag of white castle hamburgers and I am ready for my morning..............,duty!!!! Like NOW!
