I have a set of clutch pedals a fellow member from sns let me borrow... I will be blue printing and building a jig press to stamp these out so everyone can enjoy a manual trans in their x body... Hope to have the first ones done in a couple weeks. I will try to post pics of my progress. my goal is to get the pedal done at a minimum... I am unsure at this point if i am going to be able to reproducd the z-bar but I will give it a try.
My personal car will be sporting a hydraulic clutch... If anybody has interest in these pedals maybe shoot me a pm. I will be working on these very heavily so I probably won't have alot of time to devote to following this thread. It will be very labor intensive building a jig so that every set are done to a quality level... But once it is done I hope to be able to reproduce these things very quickly and be able to sell them for a fair price to everyone in need.

    thanks guys

Ok some preliminary layout has been done ... Not a finished product yet but getting close. I am going to improve the way it attaches at the top. I am lookin at doing something with a grease zerk to prevent wear and tear. And possibly a stainless steel sleeve insert for the linkage so it doesn't wear out the holes in the pedal... I had to repair the worn linkage, transfer the holes from the original pedal to the bar stock and then weld up the original pedal and reverse transfer the correct pattern on to the original pedal and redrill the hole to keep his pedals working good. Anyhow on with the show... These items are slightly smaller as they will be used as a perimeter jig once I get the tabs tacked up. After this I will be building jig press to recreate the step in the pedal so it has the correct spacing between the clutch and brake. I plan to have these pedals powder coated black as well. More to follow... Thanks

I recently welded up the hole on the z-bar and the the same wear spot on the push bar on my set up. I have a fairly fresh spare Z-bar and push bar I incase I have an catastrophic failure (I take it with me on Drag Week).

You're talking about making something greaseable, there is a guy on here that if you send him your Z-bar (and push bars?) he'll install a sealed bearing for them to pivot on. I may make use of his service in the future, and you may want to talk with him on what he does. Where I'm going with this is if you are going to be re-engineering part of it, it might be best to simply start with something better like bearing pivots, etc.

If you need a Z-bar to use as a pattern, I can send you my spare, but I'd want it back no later than end of June.

BTW, is that second picture the same bar as the first just welded up? If so that looks really good! Mine definitely does not look that clean. :TU:

i am still unsure if I will be able to reproduce the z bar and pushbar yet... The pedal itself is the "holy grail" of the setup I picked these pedals up at noon yesterday and the jig is very close to done. And I very much like the sealed bearing idea.

I had my attachments at max capacity I believe and so it did a repost of same pic

Yes the first and second pics are of the exact same part that is welded up. I was a frame welder at cat and I do alot of fab work... I have 2 high frequency tig setups and a really sweet mig setup... So that helps alot... I can do aluminum too.

I am looking into making just the pedals and z-bar mount and maybe pushbar... There so many engine and trans options out there and my personal combo is a 464 buick with a t56 6 speed. So I have no point of reference for the typical nova crowd sbc/ 4 speed combo I have seen alot of guys doin the basic z bar pushbar install and most always need to modify to make it work. I am needing some input from you guys as far as what you would like to see. I believe the pedals are going to be pretty doable once the jig is done but the tooling for a z-bar maybe out of my reach with my equipment .

    thanks
