Friend Dwane came by yesterday afternoon. It was cool because he brought his just purchased 72 GS convertible that is going to be his next project. Pretty solid car really for what it is, basically a 33 year old worn out everything car.... I think he knows I've been a bit bummed with the slow progress on my project, so he gave me the keys and said lets go for a drive. I've heard the stories about cowl shake and wind noise and dirt etc. I gotta tell ya, I was very impressed with how little road noise or wind there was with the top down, even at 60 mph. Amazing. I was also surprised how well the little 350 ran, moved the car out pretty good. This is my first time ever in a GS convertible, and probably only my fifth time in a convertible at all. Driving it was a whole new experience and I can't wait to get my car done. Its gonna be awesome!! And it was pretty nice of him to let me bomb around in his ragtop and take lots of pictures for information an assembling my top etc. Another Buick class act!! Just thought I would share that. later Tim
Sounds like a "true" friend. Very :bglasses: You are correct that the sensation of driving around with your top down is something you just have to experience to understand.
Cool story Tim, now you've got major incentive to finish yours. :TU: Nothing like cruising in a drop top. :beer :beer Dwayne sounds like a real classy friend. :TU:
Cowl shake? Dirt? Who's been spreading these foul rumors about Buick convertibles? Did you drive under an overpass, Tim? Freaked me out the first time I did, I didn't know what the noise was
Oh I don't know, just things I heard over the last few years while building the car. I could see a guy would want to be careful where he drives, and no didn't go under an overpass...will do for sure once mine is completed. later Tim
