in my '64 Riviera my passenger's side door window wont go down all of the way, nor will it go down straight.. something's definately up with the window regulator... NOW i'm trying to determine the best way to get at it.... i have always had BAD luck with removing the interior panels on my buicks.. i can get 'em off O-K, but when it comes to putting them back on; i can't get the daggone window handles and clips back on..

Now, I know that the the door skins are bolted on in these cars, would you suggest I remove the door skin instead? i would think that that would give me much better acess to the door internals...

    what do ya think guys/gals?

    thanks,

    wes

You have to pull the door skin. The door panel (the interior one) mounts to a solid metal sheet with access holes in it for the electrics, door handles, mirror cables.... that kind of thing. The entire window mechanism bolts to the outside of this panel and is contained in the cavity between the door "plate" and the door skin. I can take pictures tonight if you want since I have to pull the door skins to reassemble mine anyway.

Is this the same on a 68 Riv?

'68 Riv should be the same as my '70, which has weld on skins and you have to go into the door behind the carbboard and metal interior door panel. However I never really messed with that one, should have though since it would drop the window off the track and I'd have to fish it out with pliers. Having all electric accessories certainly makes it easier to take things apart.
