will power booster fit manual brake firewall?

I'm getting the idea a power booster won't retrofit onto my manual-brake firewall - doesn't seem to be much side-to-side clearance, at least not enough to clear the wiper motor... are '72 skylark manual brake firewalls set up differently with respect to component placement, from power brake cars?

As you face the firewall from the front of the car, from the tip of the wiper motor to the center of the master cylinder where the pedal rod comes thru, there's 3.5" - so in theory I'd only be able to fit a 7" booster onto the firewall  ?

as anyone else come across this?

It should fit but you'll need to use 2 more nuts to hold it to the firewall since the master cylinder has only 2 studs in it.You may have to switch your wiper motor to a recessed wiper motor. Is your wiper motor a square type(non recessed) or does it have the round piece (recessed wipers)on the end?? I have switched from non power to power brakes and never had any problems at all.

external round cannister type. I don't see how a stock booster would clear this wiper unit and the smallest aftermarket booster I've seen is 9". Did GM use a different wiper motor setup for PB A-bodies?

    will fit

Yes it will fit. Just did a manual to power conversion on a 71. the extra studs are already there below the manual master cyl and mine had the extra nuts already screwed on them bottomed out to the firewall. Go with the booster that your car call for ,I did and had no problems with the large booster. think its an 11" not sure i can check ????

I'll hit the net for factory pb skylark photos to see how their setups are - where the wiper motor unit sits, it just doesn't look like a booster would fit next to it. Appreciate the input - coming from Mopars, I thought the GM stuff would be a cakewalk!

I just looked at my 70 and the wiper motor is close but there is plenty of room to put it on there. It looks deceiving ,but it will be ok...Promise...lol

I had no problem converting my '70 to power brakes. Everything bolted right on with no problems.

    pic of fit

Ok here it is kind a dark pic but went with black paint. Im into slightly mod. the black car paint holds up longer than the factory coating in the long run. Also sorry about the rest of the under hood being dusty spent several weeks with the hood up doing the power disc conversion. think this is a 11" booster ? I can almost fit 2 fingers between wiper motor and booster. ALSO a word of advice ,use a hand vacume pump to test your new booster before doing all the work and insrtalling it. This booster works somewhat but wont hold a vacume with engine off . got another in yesterday and tested at the parts store it held 18" vac steady for 5 min NO LEAK. The one I just installed wont pump up at all with a hand pump .
