I have an auto, floor shift, tilt automatic steering column from a 1972.

I want to put it into my 4spd 1972 GS.

Everything looks exactly the same except for the hanger at the end of the column where the actuator rod connects to the auto or manual transmission (on manual, used for reverse/neutral safety switch, on auto, used for gear indicator and park/neutral safety switch).

The manual transmission column currently in the car looks like the mounting location hole for that rod is about 3/4 inch lower then the same location on the automatic column. It is also a slightly different shape.

Can anyone tell me if this swap will work, or will I need to take the 2 columns apart and swap that piece?

It will work. The backdrive rod up to the column has an adjustment for length
