I need to move a non- running car for house
painters about 30 feet. Will AAA do it (I’m a member)? Thanks!

I doubt it. I'm guessing you don't have the keys? Have the house painters throw a tarp over it.

I have the keys it’s on a slight decline don’t want
to pop it into neutral and be unable to brake it.
Maybe just call a local tow company? Thanks!

Max Damage I'm working on it!

If it's on your property I say yes.

AAA doesn't care who owns the car as long as the member is requesting it. So if the member is asking for this, I say they will do it.

Years ago my father bought a plow truck that was not suitable for the road. He was a member andcalled AAA. They told him they only towed registered cars.. he was pissed!

I'd be surprised if they agree to move it 30'. You have no friends, kids, neighbors, that will help you? The brakes will work even with no power assist as long as the hydraulics are sound. There are a lot easier ways to do this.

AAA wouldn't move mine from driveway to inside garage after I wiped my distributor gear. Had to call wrecker flatbed. Was about $70.

They also will not pick up your car inside dragstrip... you have to be outside of the track grounds.

No, not knowingly. They always ask if the vehicle is registered.

But 30 feet? Surely you can get creative.

I have a Ford Explorer could back it up to the rear
bumper, pop the Buick into neutral, and creep ahead!

I could back my butt up against the bumper, and creep ahead slowly and stop it.:D

I have an old spare tire I could use as a cushion.

I worked for AAA years ago and back then the answer would have been No. I doubt anything has changed.

This sounds like something I would do. Put some 4 X 4 fence post pieces where you want it to stop, too.

Thank you all for the replies! I have two bricks stacked behind each rear tire now put there when I last parked it.

AAA talks a good game and the coverage looks attractive but They've left me stranded more times than I want remember due to the stupid undisclosed rules or ones that change state to state. I'd not count on them to move that car.

Few years back I threw one of my plates (1970 Buick) on a 1970 Buick I had purchased that did not run. Called AAA, gave them the plate number, etc. Flat bed shows up, the driver RUNS the tag- "hey bud, this tag has been expired for 2 years. I can't take it". Slipped him a $50 and got it towed ~ 30 miles back to my house. Would have been easier to have rented a trailer and just trailered it myself...

I will say that every time I have needed them, they have shown up within an hour- fuel, multiple tows, etc. Well worth the price in my eyes!!!!

As long as the tires are not flat, this is very doable with a couple friends and a push/pull vehicle with a tow strap if there is a hill involved.

Have the house painters paint the Buick too:p

I actually have had very good luck with AAA. I also find their position on unregistered cars reasonable. They provide "road service". If the car is not registered it should not be on the road. JMHO.

Me too. Mostly used them when locking my keys in the cars...

    I agree John.
