will '72 skylark coupe 1/4's fit my rag?

They both need replacing but I'm torn between Tabco skins or locating a set of used coupe 1/4's (figuring that it's unlikely to find real ragtop 1/4's). Can the coupe 1/4s be fitted properly to my rag? My wheel wells are generally ok, the left trunk extension has some rot though as do the trunk seams where they meet the wheel wells :Do No: .

No, so start out with the Tabcos as they must be modified too.

so, other than where the 1/4's flatten out at the point they meet the convertible top line versus remaining flat going into the coupe roofline, what else would prevent them from grafted on?

I'm assuming (bad idea in most cases, I know) they could be cut to fit at some point below the roofline area?

If you look at the rear of the hardtop, examine the area of the rear quarters that terminates in the aluminum extensions, right above the bumpers. Look at the ridge that is formed on the top of the rear quarters on that hardtop- it goes all the way to the roof

On the convertible, that same ridge gets shallower and softer and then disappears.

I have hardtop 1/4s (repros) on my '70. They had to be grafted on 6" below that ridge, on the side of the quarters, not on top.

very difficult in my opinion not to simply remove that whole area, as was done with my car

    I use www.tabcobodyparts.com

I never had a problem using their skins.

Just make your seam/joint about 3-4" below the upper peak line.
The trunk drops (from trunk floor to the back side of the qtr panel) are available from www.shermanparts.com for $62 each.

many thanks for the feedback - sounds like skins are the way to go - hopefully my outer wheel housings are ok - I know one side needs rot repair for sure.. Let the projects begin :3gears: !
