Why Buick in 65/66 used T-10 instead on Muncie?

    Mark,

Yes, Brian is a great source of knowledge on both 4 speed Buicks and early Gran Sport cars, I got my 4 door 4 speed car from him a few years ago, fun car, he has also helped me out with my current project 65 post car with a GS frame and drivetrain (Muncie M20, at current blown up, second one so far) this brought me to inquire this subject.

Currently debating a newer Autogear M22W (wide ratio low helix gears (rockcrusher style) yet they seem to be unable to build one till their parts come in from Italy hoping the end of this week will see

I have been keeping a eye out for a T-10 yet not sure if I want to run another 40+ year trans that has been abused as got too much into the junk I have now.

Also I thought all GM manual trans of 65 vintage had 10 spline input and 27 spline output as I do not believe the STD T-10 used behind the 300 engine externally were any different than the GS one other than tail extension and Bearing Retainer is a smaller OD on the GS due to the unique throwout bearing retainer (had to have my Muncie bearing retainers turned down)

Again glad to see the interest in this thread,
    Jim

I have a 63 Lesabre 2 door hard top. Bench seat, radio delete 401 high altitude 2 barrel with a four speed. Now I know that is NOT a Muncie, and it is big. Works great so I have never had it out of the car. I also have a 61 SS Impala with a four speed T-10 and the one in the Buick sure looks a lot bigger. Any ideas on the what the Buick trans is?
