theres a few things they didnt continue into the 71 year.fuel sticker and the seal that youre talking about are probably 2 things....not in my assembly manual
Been down this rabbit hole……….. Depending on which plant your car was built at, it was either screwed on or stapled. It has a distinctive serrated ribbing in the center of the “flap”. That ribbing is similar to the pattern on the lug wrench sleeve. Had one “curing” on my dash in the sun for years (crispy stuff!) after my OCD spotted it.
Here you go, Flint built 70 GS see pictures. Flint built cars were attached by Staples other assembly plants used 1/4 inch screws this was a 1970 only part.
I would have thought the staples would go in the other direction? I was thinking of using my leftover staples from my splash shields and I ordered rubber from Amazon and made my own. Made 2 for ~$13.00
To answer your question about the staples I don’t believe I took it off when I repainted the car back in the late 80s.
On another note, has anybody found the 70-72 skylark (GS) inner splash shields that are close to the originals?
I do have them in stock . . . $22 You can find them along with anything else related to the Trunk area here > https://www.stage1restoration.com/product-category/trunk-items/
i wonder why gm stopped with those seals in 71.seems like a good idea to me unless it caused water to rot out certain areas????
