Who says wiper switches are for wiping?

image.jpg Hi all, a question for any out-of-the-box thinkers. In my quest to keep my ‘72 Skylark stealthy and stock looking, I’d like to operate my electric fuel pump relay with my factory wiper switch! Wiper motor is out of the car building a street/strip terror.

My wiring knowledge isn’t great and I’m having a hard time finding and interpreting a good diagram for the switch. Anyone have an idea how I may do this? The switch chassis is grounded but what terminals would I use for power in and out? I arbitrarily numbered them for ease of reference. 05AD443E-8D3F-4301-9C0B-5E8EC43CEF26.jpeg

    Great thank you very much!

would that mean I would use the diagram’s terminal 1 for 12v power source in and terminal 2 wired to the relay to activate the pump?

A better idea would be to use the switch to provide the GROUND for the Bosch Relay you use to power the pump . A Bosch relay only requires a small ground to activate .

#30 and # 86 could be the same Power source

    #87 could be pump power

#85 connected to the switch for the relay ground .

It would be a good anti theft device too

Well, in the meantime I got brave and opened up the switch! Removing the #3 terminal and a small stamping that brought the ground internally has effectively made it into a simple on/off switch. Now I can either use it to control ground or power

Stay tuned, in keeping with the hidden go fast goodies I will soon reveal how I used the stock column shift lever to operate like a ratcheting shifter for my reverse pattern manual valve body trans.

Controlling wiper speed with the gas pedal would be great.

Please run the fuel pump relay through an oil pressure switch- In case of an accident you don't want the fuel pump to keep pumping fuel, it needs to shut off without a person's intervention

Not sure if it matters where you live or if you already have a plan, but some states do require working wipers for inspection.
