I need to put a bar in my car and wondered if anyone out there had some thoughts (pros or cons) on this.
I have a 71 GS with full interior. I don't want to strip the car down to a go cart but need the safety.
Any photos would be greatly appreciated.

    I do....in my 72 GS.

The side bars have to have a slight bend in them to clear the door handles. I have a 6 pouint bar. I'll try to post pics later.

Here is how we did the 6 point cage in my car. I kept it simple and not looking to run faster than 10.00 so this is good enough for me. I know it is stripped down in the pics however the stock dashpad fits fine, and the rest of the interior is stock except trimming of the new carpet and custom pad on the rear deck:

Thanks for the photos, Sean. How far along is your car now? Your doing yours the smart way in building the chassis/body before you have a show car. Now I've gone too fast and am I'm trying to get mine to pass tech, with a finished paint job and interior. Oops

And Dan I was hoping somebody had done that. Hope to see photos too.

Well the car got held up 13 months at the paint shop till I finally pulled it out and moved on with the build. The car will stay in primer till after I get it on the road, paint is the last thing I am thinking about. The primer helps the sleeper look with the flat hood hiding the twins.

So the engine is out, rear end is out, suspension being rebuilt now and the Moser rear which is built for 1000+ HP will be in place. The interior is coming together all black with "rattle trap" deadening, custom gauges and computer to datalog the runs. I still need to get the engine together but it has the heads from Sonny Seal's 350 that ran low 11s NA and lots of good parts. Lots of work left but almost everything is payed for so its not too bad. Should run well for a 8:1 355 inch street car.

    Thanks Rob,
Just remember to take your time and plan it out first. It's too easy to jump right in and start cutting and welding just to make progress. Mock everything up before you start welding more than tack welds.
