Lately Ive been looking at 59 Buicks. The 2 door Invicta is especially attractive. Anyone here own one or have opinions?

Since I have a 60, I am partial to that year...but I wouldn't kick a 59 out of bed! If I were to own one, I think I would have to find an Electra 225. Doesn't matter what body style to me. They are all beautiful.

they are beautiful and im just now realizing that. My dad had a 59 electra. I saw a pic of him with it recently.

    I like the '59's headlight arrangement .
It's also why I like the '58-'60 Lincolns (headlights)

For me, the lights following the fender line is the great feature of the styling.

I love that furrowed brow look on the 59 but also like the tip of the hat to the B-52 bomber engine pod strut on the 60's bezel.

Also love that front hood emblem on the 59 over my 60, but the first year Tri Shield in the 60 grill real gets my Buick blood pumping to the point I want to dip one of my spare emblems in an ink pad and give myself a temporary tattoo lol.

I also like the taller hood face and trim on the leading edge of the 59 as well as the tribute to the 1958 "diamonds on velvet" front grill and I like the front bumper better too.

Moving down the sides of the two years I like the rocket themes in the body lines of the 60 over the 59 and I really like the 60's 225's ribbed extruded aluminum that flows well with the front grill and ornate tailpanel trim.

The 59 has taller and sharper fins but I have never met a set of fins I didn't like and the 60's seems to flow nicely.

Long story short(too late lol) I love them both but the memories we had as a family in our 60 ("Josephine") still has me won over.

Regardless of either year they are still rolling pieces of art the likes of we will never see again
    :beers2:

I like both '59 & '60. Prefer the '60. '59's angry front end looks too much like a bitch I had for a 7th grade teacher.

66electrafied Just tossing in my nickel's worth

I've always wanted one, and every time I think I'm getting close to affording a nice one the prices slip past my affordability range again.

I'd love to have an Invicta, I've had a 60 Invicta, but I've always wanted the 59 Invicta. I'll happily consider an Electra too, but either car in half decent shape are worth more than my 2 convertibles combined currently are. It's enough to make you weep.
There are also no decent ones left in Canada it seems. Every one I've looked at is a badly slapped together bondo buggy with a questionable motor or transmission. And yes, no options. Power windows in a Buick prior to 1965 seems to be almost unheard of up here.

The kind of car I'm looking for is a decent driver in decent presentable shape, not a a project or a recovered barn find that's minus the usual floor pans or is an ex-mouse condo. I'd happily trade either or both (if the car was really, really nice and fully loaded!) of my current fleet for a decent 2 door hardtop or convertible Invicta or Electra.

I've got nothing to worry about, there will be no takers anyway, so I'll just continue on and lust after one...:ball:

I was 15 years old when the 1959 Buick came out and I thought at the time that was a real "hot" car. Still do to this day. I also like the 1955/56 Century.

Maybe the 59 you seek will find you? The question is.... will you be ready?

what are the differences between lesabre, invicta, electra 2 door hardtops? Just trim or are the bodies different?

Both years are nice. My dad had a 60 Invicta. I almost bought a loaded 60 Electra 225 convertible with factory red leather buckets originally ordered by a doctor. The guy was asking $1200 but was willing to take $1000 back in the 80s . Kicking myself now.

Doesn't the 60 front fender run right back to the tail fin? If so, that is one clean design. The 59 though, there is just something so cool about diagonal headlights.
