I made lots of calls to various suppliers over the last couple of months or so, and no one could tell me anything about the new 5 speed, Richmond was not very helpful either? After many emails phone calls, emails etc and lots of "ball park pricing" i finally got a firm price of $4K Canadian from a speed shop fairly close to me. I'm out of time and out of patience so I ordered it up? He says 2weeks delivery, not sure about the dimensions but the speed shop guy, was fairly impressed with the smaller dimensions..I will post them and pics when I get the tranny in my little hands....

Thanks for the info. I'm looking forward to seeing how it compares to a muncie size wise. I'm sure it will be longer but it would be nice if it was similar to the muncie as far as width, height and shifter placement.

You may be able to get the info you need if you email Richmond from their own website. Good luck with your project...Gord

Ive got a question then as well. I was looking at doing a manual swap into my car. 65 skylark with 455. What is needed and should I put in and how do linkages and stuff work. Is there anything that can use cable or hydraulic linkages to clutch since that seems easier than making brackets and using steel rods. Also what parts are needed. So far my basic idea is Tranny, bellhousing, clutch+stuff, and then somehow conect the clutch pedal. Thats it hopefully right. Also the keep it stock doesn't apply so anything easy and cheap is and option. Thinking of doing that or FI this summer.

It is not a cheap conversion. I would say if you did it all the parts would run $3000 or more.

So does a 4-speed that came in the buicks have the same front face bolt pattern as a TKO-600?

If I wanted to put a TKO-600 into the 3rd gen f-body that I have my 430/TH-400 in, what bellhousing would I need? The BOP McLeod? Stock buick 4-speed bellhousing? Which would be cheaper?

Also, TA Performance sells flywheels. What about clutches? What pressure plate and clutch disk would both bolt to the TA flywheel as well as have the right spline count for the TKO-600?

I'm not worried about tunnel modifications in this car. And I would hope to find a bellhousing that would let me use the hydraulic slave cylinder in the f-body along with it's pedal, etc. I can always measure for the driveshaft and do whatever I need to do for the transmission crossmember.

Do you have any pics of the huge hole that must be made to put in a tremec?

wow this was an old posting, as it turns out the richmond needed alot of tunnel work mods and i think was about $1,500 more than the tremec? this post started in 2007 and now i forgot what my costs ended up being. There are manuals out there now, here is one that is interesting and other guys on the board discussed, http://legendgt.com/
I spoke with these guys at Sema and they assured me no tunnel mods required and have various shifter mounting locations which is probably the direction I would go if I did this again. Gord
