Anyone out there know where to source the correct pilot bearing for a Buick 455 and a Tremek TKO 600. The one I have with the kit is for a pontiac and it won't work. Thanks in advance
pilot bearing hi dwane, i am right in the middle of putting a tko 600 in my 69 wagon and have been fighting with the pilot bearing since i tried to put it in. the first one i got from a guy in ontario. by the time i put it in the clutch alignment tool wouldnt fit because the hole in the end of the crank was to small. i honed it out some and tapped in the next one and same thing. attempt 3 will be this week. the bearing i am using is a non needle bearing skf b656 made in the usa and available through lordco i think. if the hole in the end of the crank is to small the bearing will crush to much to get the alignment tool in. i don't like the idea of honing the crank but don't know what else to do. im possitive that i have the correct bearing number. my phone # is 250 842-5757. all pilot bearings from 63 to 81 are supposed to be the same regardless of displacement. hope you have better luck and if you find an other solution please call me
I am putting a TKO 600 P/N 5009 in my BBB 455 powered 37 Buick. The process to use a roller pilot bearing was frustrating so this is what I did. Get a Moroso roller pilot bearing for Chey it is 1.093 OD, the ID fits the TKO input shaft .590. The BBB crank hole measures 1.070, I had the bearing turned down to 1.071, it went in with a nice press fit, end of problem. Good Luck
