Here is what we did. we got the Custom Auto Sound Kick panel speakers We ordered ours through http://www.soundmove.com/speakers.htm
We also ordered our under seat speakers through them as well.

My husband put a set of Pioneer speakers (TSA1670R 6.5 3ways) In the kick panels.

Then he drilled holes in to where the vert top goes & installed a set of 6.5s there as well

In the Dash he put a set of 4inch under the dash pad.

    sounds pretty kewl

    Sorry for the delay.

Basically I have a fiberglass pod at the kick with a 6 1/2" mid and 1" tweeter. In the rear there are 5 1/2" mids along with tweeters too. The amps are in the trunk along with the subs in a custom ported box.

I put 4" in the kick panels, 4 6x9's in the rear deck, 6.5" in all 4 doors, tweets in the corners of the dash, and 3 12's in the trunk, along with 2 amps. it sounds pretty good, especially after some sound insullation.

I mounted my stereo under the dash, because I just didnt have the heart to cut into my dash... it was just too clean. but its cool because all you really see is the stock am radio in the dash. if you dont want to drill mount holes under the dash, you can always build a box to sit on the floor to house the radio, and even put speakers in the side of it.

I also found a home for temp, oil pressure, and volts gauges, and a small tach under the dash without making it look tacky.

I had to bring my Buick into the modern times. my other car has stand alone engine management that you tune in real time with a laptop in the passenger seat; my buick didnt even have a temp gauge!

if you look in the rear deck, under the board, you might find that there are already holes there. mine already had 4 6x9 holes in the metal stock from the factory. if you wanted to add some 6x9's, all you would have to do is cut holes in the cardboard rear deck, or if you are concerned about originality, pull the rear deck out and put in a new one with holes cut; that way you can always go back to stock.

oh wait, my bad, you got a convertable... no rear deck huh? lol well i guess that doesnt help much!

by the way Dobie G, big props on a clean install... that really looks good man.

    Thanks.

I'm going to do 'part II' to it next year. I'm going have a custom made center console with a small monitor in it and replace the bench seat with buckets.
