I been looking all over and cant seem to find a oil pressure switch that fits my buick 1973 454. I basically want to keep the low oil pressure stock light and use my digital oil pressure gauge too. I know it is a sender that lets you use both the dummy light and oil pressure gauge too , but cant seem to find them for our buick 455s. I just went through this with my buick 350 and dont want to throw parts at it until i get it right this time. Can somebody point me in the right direction? I already searched the forum and didnt find the info that i needed.

    Thanks

I don't think there is a sender that does both . You have to install a "T" at the location near the oil filter and use the original sender for the " idiot light " and another for the the Digital oil pressure gauge you want to use . Parts for the "T" are available at any good hardware store

Ok what size t? Works. I used a t on my buick 350 but had to use a few different ones until i got the right one. Wasnt happy with it cause it didnt measure the oil pressure good. But the dummy light worked good with it

The threaded hole for the oil pressure take off is on the engine block, just behind where the timing cover contacts the block, above the oil filter. Kind of hard to miss. The threaded hole is 1/4 NPT, most senders are 1/8 NPT. There are a number of ways to accomplish the same thing. You need brass fittings. You can get them at auto parts stores, or even home depot.

    Brass Tee, like this,

    https://www.amazon.com/Brass-Fittin...P9JCFZDX0QR&psc=1&refRID=PA8JPAKQAP9JCFZDX0QR

Then this bushing to reduce to 1/8 NPT,

    Or,

    https://www.summitracing.com/parts/var-92846

    and the reducer bushing.

If you can find a tee with 1/4 NPT male and 2 1/8 NPT female, you don't need any reducer bushings. You could also use one reducer bushing at the engine block and then use a 1/8 NPT tee. Like I said, there are a number of ways to do the same thing with various brass fittings.

Absolutely - I have no idea why it did work, but it did. The sender was the same calibration as the guage, but who knows when the idiot light would have come on. It did cycle during cranking though..

The idiot light provides a ground for the light, 7 psi is the range for that I believe. Have you ever correlated the stock gauge with an Autometer for instance with that sender? I might want to try that sender. I have my Autometer and the stock gauge working. I could easily rig up a nice big bright Red LED somewhere in direct eyesight as a warning light.
