I read a hot rod article that really praised the 2004r. I think I'll end up getting one.

Lots of goodies showed up today. Cant wait to get the new exhaust on. I saw a mild built engine on a dyno where a Straight through magnaflow added almost 15 HP over a cheap parts store turbo muffler which is what I have now. Saw another dyno where H pipe added 4 HP and even more torque. Combine these upgrades with new mandrel bent 2.5" pipes...cant wait. Afr setup is here, flexible stainless tranny lines are here. I'm stoked. 20210317_165658.jpg 20210317_165919.jpg 20210317_203518.jpg 20210317_203657.jpg 20210317_204247.jpg

I installed the stainless steel transmission cooling lines today. I routed them through the frame using factory holes in the frame. The stock lines were basically touching my headers in multiple places and they were also close to the engine block. I dont have a tranny temp gauge but im guessing this will make a huge difference. It also will allow me to use the fly wheel cover and get to the starter easier. Also the extra length of line will allow for an easy install of an aftermarket cooler.

You will want some heat wrap on that one by header. Burned mine that way. Went back to steel tubes for now

I was thinking that too. It's about 1.5 inches away. These are heavy stainless. What were you using?

Braided trans line from summit racing. But i think it was still rubber base. Cutting was a pain.

Most all are PTFE on the inside that gives them high chemical and heat resistance, along with a braided stainless steel outside.

Here's what I ordered. They are very heavy duty feeling. Only come in one length. Ptfe coated. Which melts at 600 degrees. Just to be safe I will put some wrap around that spot. Screenshot_20210323-123608_Samsung Internet.jpg

Exhaust is complete and holy smokes it sounds amazing. It's a way deeper tone which is exactly what I wanted. My buddy and I both looked at each other and smiled as soon as it started. Its sweet! Full 2.5" exhaust with an H pipe and magnaflow straight threw style mufflers. 20210401_193757.jpg 20210401_194535.jpg 20210401_204019.jpg 20210401_204039.jpg

This is my buddy's shop. He is the neighborhood mechanic and happens to be a buick collector. He has a couple of mid 70s cars one has a super wicked 455. He has a 50s buick not sure on model and a 66 skylark and a dozen other collectibles. My garage is a 16x24 with 8 ft ceilings. I did all of the work in my garage except for exhaust. I will try to get a video with my wife's phone later. It has a better mic.

short video here. It was cold out and it's cold blooded. Listen with a bluetooth speaker or something decent for the full effect.

Finally got the dual afr installed. Started installing it at 6:30 this morning because I have a wedding this afternoon and Easter stuff tomorrow. I drove it for about 20 minutes. When I have more time I'll mount the gauge by the tach and make a video.

    Gauge readings:
    Idle - 11.5
    Cruise at 30 mph - 12.5
    Cruise at 60 mph - 14
    WOT - 11 to 12 ish

Was able to equal out the readings with the idle mix screws from side to side by watching the gauge. Even though its rich I have the smoothest idle I've ever had. Leaning out the idle circuit makes it run crappy.

That's pretty good. Any bog or drive ability issues?
