Wheel Question: Is Metric Chevy the same as 5x4.75"

    I have never heard the term "Metric Chevy" is that the same as 5 x 4.75"? Gm bolt pattern.

    I assume by "metric Chevy" one is referring to 5x120mm PCD (Pitch Circle Diameter is the technically correct term) which IMHO (I have some experience in wheel engineering although not pass car specific) is different than 5x4.75 which is commonly referred to as a 5x120.7mm PCD. These things are usually referred to pretty precisely (e.g. the commonly used/referred to in industry 6x222.25 PCD on Japanese Cabover trucks such as Isuzu NPR/NQR is the old 6x8 PCD used on American Trucks back in the day - Still many UPS trucks out there w/it).

    Will it bolt up? Yes. Is it right? No. Do people do it? Yes, but people do all kinds of crazy things wrt wheels & tires that is incorrect & work, but dangerous nevertheless. Would I? No, unless I was stuck on the side of the road and it was all I had. It would certainly get you somewhere.

    Please post the article where you read that.


    I think that metric is referring to the lug nuts/bolts and not to the rims?
    That you have to use a metric socket on the lug nut or bolt.

    Because every rim has a metric size, just convert inches to mm.

    If that's the case (obviously not how I took it), then yes, they'll work. The wheel doesn't really care if the studs/nuts are metric, just that the correct type of nut is used.

    It doesn't say if this is about the rim, it only says "metric chevy", nothing like "5 x 120.6mm" or so.
    So that's why I asked for a link to the article where he read that.
