Sitting on the valve cover, before I tied it up to the firewall with the rest. What's it for? Black with orange stripe, comes out of the harness into the fender and disappears!
That’s for the blower motor. Likely need passenger fender off to inspect connection/reconnect as necessary
Are you sure that isn't for the TCS ? Transmission Controlled Spark ?? Or which wire are you talking about the one at the front of the valve cover ? or the one at the rear of the valve cover ?
Rear wire sitting on the back of the valve cover. The one laying on the front of the cover is for the TCS.
Yeah, that looks like the plug to the transmission control module. The solenoid is mounted on the quadrajet and has a bunch of vacuum lines that go to it. Emission control junk. Probably has a resistor-looking thing in the back of the plug (covered with electrical tape now).
I took all that junk off and tucked the connector away. So the consensus is the wire in back (black with orange stripe) is for the blower motor? I wonder why its not routed through the firewall? Running it through the fender seems weird!
I agree it’s strange routing, but the wiring diagram confirms it’s for the blower motor. I recently redid most of the wiring harnesses (dash, engine bay, AC), and thought I could hook this wire up after putting on the passenger fenders. I thought wrong.
Thanks guys! If my current configuration has issues I may follow up with you to see how it is working out. I saw the big block MSD pig tail version on TA's web site, too.
