Like the topic says, whats the difference between these two carbs?

    4053s (49states)
    4059s (California)

One is for california och the other for the rest os the US but how are they diffrent and which one should I buy? Can I put a 49 states carb on a californiacar or vice versa?

Will one or the other give me some more power?

I checked my Carter catalog and it shows the 4059 carb to have different jets and metering rods for a leaner mixture. In 1965/6 the air pollution people in California were starting to show their teeth and GM had to lower emissions. The leaner carb, along with the smog air pump plumbing to the exhaust manifold and valve seals on the intake valves were the beginnings of a long road. The 4053 carb would be my choice for reliability and tuning satisfaction. Good luck, Frank

    My math says that 4059S - 4053S = 6S. :Brow:

Sorry David, he asked the difference between 4053s and 4059s, that would be -6s, not +6s.
