What year is this riv and bonus question, what is the color code or name?

    1971-1972 have the curved dashboard with "brushed aluminium" inserts.
    1971 has white needles for the speedometer, fuel and clock.
    This is a '71 Riviera:

    1972-1973 have orange needles.
    1973 has the same dashboard as your Lesabre, with wood grain.

    It's not a difficult job to put the bumper on the chassis and leave the energy absorbers out:

    I didnt know about that. But still the bumper still has to fit against the fender recess where it is designed to fit. The bumper would have to be trimmed and made narrower no? Have you ever seen a 73 lesabre with a modified bumper like that?

    Well, having seen my share of 73-76 Buicks with the bumpers pushed in (a light tap was all it took to blow that "energy absorber") I'd have to say it looks a little better, provided the vinyl surrounds are properly trimmed. I never did like those impact bumpers, they look even dumber on European imports that had to put them on. Look at any Mercedes from 1973-1980 and you see a car that screams ugly, whereas the European models are actually quite nice.
