Day 3 Got all my tractors running today then removed the batteries. All batteries are on battery tenders Took the Christmas tree down and all the Christmas things are back in the attic Finally pulled the trigger on a new center section for the back half car Still searching for interior pieces yet for the back half car
well my wife tested positive and the commonwealth of Pa wont allow me back (even with a negative result) for the reason I may contract it in the later stages of her quarantine. I questioned the CDC lady and was told the same thing. Luckily,I have enough sick leave accumulated to cover it.. I thought that since my wife and I would be home for the 14 days it would be enough. I just don't get it..I think they are making things up as they go along..Neither of us have any symptoms yet either...
When my wife came down with it my 14 days didn't start till after her 14days, but I also had to stay in during her 14 day.....they told me I could contract any of her 14days..... So the 14 days is only for those thst are actually sick with covid....those of us without it get twice as long. My wife came down with hers early October and it cost me most of the entire month
My wife tested positive and my quarantine was to be either from her positive test or from mine. I tested negative so went off hers and was 14 days. She went back to work 10 days after her first symptom (which was just a mild cough) It’s all wildly different. My paperwork for my test said I could return to normal 7 days after a positive test.
Have had several of my techs go through this same thing. Completely insane and as stated, it's like they're just winging it and making the rules up as they go along. Even if my guys test negative, they still have to sit at home for 4 weeks while the one who actually was sick and tested positive gets "set free" after 2 weeks, no matter what they do or what my guys' own tests say. Makes absolutely no sense....We've had about 30 cases here total at work and I've been in direct contact with and patting the back, giving high fives, etc. to many of my guys who test positive the next day. We're on a "if you feel fine, keep your mouth shut" policy here now, as the rules they throw at you for even being around someone who tests positive can get you locked at home for weeks, no matter what proof you have that you're fine/negative. It's a strange world being run by, well........ I'll just say people without much common sense.
I am just happy that I work for Penn Dot and they are fully paying me for my wife's time and that I have accumulated much time to use it. We get a percentage 913 days per year) but we have to build it up and accumulate. I have been there plowing snow for over 26 years so I got a decent amount. There are quite a few new guys here as well as people who abuse their sick leave and they would be in trouble if they weren't given the (free) 75 hours to cover the first time.
Day 4 I fixed the leaky gutter(came apart) on the garage Cleaned up a couple guns worked in the garage cleaning things up (my goal is put 10 things a day away) Ordered a couple items for the back half car. At this pace I will have packages coming every day till the end of quarantine...lol
Here is our experience; My 17 year old woke up with a 100 deg feaver, body aches and basically felt like crap. I took him for a Covid (rapid) test and he tested positive, I also got a rapid test and tested negative. My wife and other 19 year old son went the same day and took the PCR test and came back negative (took 4 days to get their results). So, my son who had not left the house (at all) in the past 3 weeks somehow caught Covid (according to the test) but the other 3 of us who go out and work every day did not. He felt better 2.5 days later with no signs of sickness and the rest of us never got sick at all. The 17 year old got out of quarantine in 10 days and the rest of us had to quarantine for 14 days after our last close contact with him which turned out to be 15 days. We wanted to get him tested again with the PCR test but the health department told us that they would only accept positive test results even if the more accurate test was negative. My son caught something from one of us but I doubt it was Covid. Did not get much done over our 15 day quarantine, weather was crappy and I was not prepared with enough honey do list supplies to get anything done. It was an extremely boring two weeks that ended the day after Christmas.
