Went to start the Skylark…nothing Replaced the red top battery, it was less than two years old, had a yellow top that lasted 7 years
I've had very poor luck with the Optimas the past 3-7 years. Have an O'Reilly's Super Start Platinum AGM battery in the Jeep now. It's been surprisingly decent for 3-3.5 years
Installed the new foam seals I got from @ramairbri a few months back. I got the shortest seals due to the B4B. They fit great and there's still a small amount of "squish" from the seal plates.
I have cleaned out all the gunk from the bolt holes in my timing cover. There was so much that I has to use my 9mm barrel brass cleaning brush on a drill to get it out. Hopefully the engine will be running by Monday. I have been dragging my feet.
Those are proper seals. I could only get the reproduction ones from Year One back in the day when I did the air cleaner on my GS way back in the day.
Yesterday I told the guy whos doing the dyno on my T-hawk to pack it up and I'll be there next weekend to pick it up. This entire project has been one big pain in the Azz
Not really today, but over the last few weeks I put together what I call a backyard rebuild of a 455 to get my car running again. New bearings and rings in a standard bore block with used everything else. Got it running Saturday and did the first burnout Sunday. Ken
Went to a little car show yesterday, followed a buddy out and was limited to his top speed of 30 mph. But hey, where do you see a 100 year old car on a public road? The bike in front of the Model T is a 1929 Indian, - and it's gorgeous.
I tore into the left front suspension tonight, to see if I can figure out what is wrong with it. Nothing glaring, yet.
This is the only thing I have accomplished on my Buick in the last 2 weeks. Water pump fan studs installed.
Finished up the left side front suspension, and tore into the right side. Still didn't find anything that would cause the steering issues yet. I suspect that the issue is in the steering linkage, but I'm going to check all the ball joints and put some Loctite on all the lower control arm bolts, and retorque.
Last week I took the Wildcat back to the upholstery shop to get the botched carpet job redone. 2 days later they call and said the carpet that was reordered was the wrong red. What do I want to do? Bolt the drivers seat back in the car and I'll come get it until the correct carpet comes in. So thats what I did. Its been 2 long since I purchased the carpet to return it so I'll have a complete kit for a 65 - 66 Wildcat / LeSabre to pass onto someone that can use it
I learned.. or should I say re-learned how to... get to the heater A/C control. Remove the radio, glove box, dash pad, ducts.... and put it back together again. My back hurts, I think it is time to do more streaching. It has been a long time since I got to work on one of these... but very rewarding. I do appreciate all the help from here. The search feature is wonderful for directions! And I do now have a functioning A/C
